Descon aims for greener pastures with the launch of its agricultural division

             

 

Descon, one of Pakistan’s leading conglomerates, has officially announced its intentions to diversify in to agriculture by setting up adivision called Descon Agri Businesses (DAB). This new venture seeks to innovate and improve upon the existing farm productivity and agriculture value-chain, helping provide the nation with nutritious produces and sustained economic growth.

Over the decades, Descon has led numerous large-scale projects in Construction, Power-generation, Oil-Refining, Chemicals and other diverse economic-sectors, in Pakistan and abroad. Its entry in to the agriculture sector is not entirely without expertise, as the company acquired shareholding in two innovative agriculture-based enterprises – ‘Vital Agri Nutrient’ (VAN) and ‘Vital Green’ (VG) at the start of this year.

VAN is a manufacturer of specialty fertilizers, soil amendments and bio-fertilizers working with farmers and corporate customers to deliver value-added farming solutions. VG provides access to credit, quality-inputs, actionable knowledge, digital tools and market outreach for farmers.

Other initiatives by Descon in this sector include the construction of a state-of-the-art fruit, vegetables, spices and herbs dehydration facility to provide high quality dried products for local and export markets, and a Himalayan Wellness Company, operational since 2019, exporting Himalayan pink salt and high-quality raw honey to the far east and other markets.

“Our entry into this sector seeks to disrupt agriculture value chains through innovative farming techniques, high-quality produce and greater support to the local farmer community.  Our long-term goal is to deliver a sustainable agriculture business, unlocking economic opportunities for the local communities and our partners along the way,” said Descon Vice-Chairman, Faisal Dawood.

PCBDDA and FIEDMC Discuss New Bilateral Business Ties for Economic Boost of Punjab.

 

Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as Central Business District (CBD Punjab) and Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) discussed establishing new bilateral business ties and exploring the spirit of opportunities in terms of domestic and foreign investments in Faisalabad in a formal meeting, held at CBD Punjab House.

CEO CBD Punjab Imran Amin Directs To Work 24 Hours On CBD Punjab Boulevard And Kalma Chowk Remodeling Project Site.

 Imran Amin CEO of Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA), also known as Central Business District (CBD Punjab), has directed the official contractor National Logistic Cell (NLC) of Kalma Chowk Remodeling project to work 24 hours on the project. The project developed at a cost of Rs 4.2 billion has completed 1000 retaining piles out of 2000 total retaining piles within a period of one month.

According to the CBD Punjab spokesperson the authority is utilizing all the resources to the maximum to complete the project ahead of the schedule as per directed by the CEO, for the convenience of the public. The shifting process is in progress to move electrical and telecommunication instruments at Ali Zaib Road. A comprehensive traffic plan will be communicated to the public in collaboration with the City Traffic Police Lahore before the Kalma Chowk underpass is completely closed. We are fully aware that there is traffic pressure in the vicinity and alternate routes are given to overcome it.

During his visit to the project site CTO Lahore, Dr. Asad Malhi said, that due to the construction work, there is an influx of traffic on Kalma Chowk and its adjacent roads, especially during peak hours, but there is no complete traffic jam reported. Alternative routes have been provided for daily commuters. CBD Punjab has initiated this project to solve the problem of traffic congestion permanently. We apologize to the public for the temporary inconvenience. CBD Punjab management and City Traffic Police, Lahore have requested the citizens to use alternative routes while traveling in Kalma Chowk and its adjoining areas so that they can avoid inconvenience.

 Huawei and OPPO announced the signing of a global patent cross-licensing agreement, which covers cellular standard essential patents, including 5G.

"After more than 20 years of continuous innovation, Huawei has developed multiple high-value patent portfolios in the global marketplace in domains like 5G, Wi-Fi, and audio/video codecs," said Alan Fan, Head of Huawei's Intellectual Property Department. "We are delighted to have reached a cross-licensing agreement with OPPO. The mutual recognition of intellectual property value between companies is a major step towards fostering a positive cycle of innovation and research in high-value standards: investing, receiving returns from investment, and then reinvesting. This will enable our industry to keep innovating and provide consumers with more competitive products and services."
